July Catch Up
International fight week ain’t what it used to be
I took a break for the 4th of July holiday but we did manage to look at UFC 276 heading into it. This time of year has some significance for those new to MMA, especially when it comes to the UFC. It’s fitting too because the sport’s grown so much, there are plenty of options out there if you’re getting tired of MMA’s formula.
International Fight Week Not for the Hardcore Anymore
The definition of a hardcore fight fan seems to have changed.
I want to say those changes have come after the UFC’s sale in 2016 when they were bought by ENDEAVOR (WME/IMG back then) but it was a slow burn into what they are now. It doesn’t bother me as much as it bothered my podcast co-host, Matt Hawkins. He was long-winded in his displeasure but he has every right to be since he’s probably one of the few that have gone to every one since its inception. It’s pretty much a UFC-con and it seems to have taken the “con” and turned it into a big string of reasons to stand in line. Listen to Matt’s full take on the podcast here:
